Encore Restaurant Week 2011 begins Wednesday, 03/23/2011 thru Wednesday, 03/30/2011

Twice a year some of the Port City's finest restaurants offer awe-inspiring, pre-fixe meals prepared especially for Encore Restaurant Week. If you’ve wanted to try some of the best restaurants in the area this is the time to do it.  All the restaurants menus have at least 3 courses and some even offer 4. Looking at the Wilmington, Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach participating restaurants special menus makes my mouth water.
Mark your calendar and get ready to enjoy the most delicious week of the spring. Over 25 local restaurants are participating in the bi-annual event, featuring dining opportunities that won't break the bank. Check the website frequently for up-to-date information and special menus. The Carolina Beach, NC restaurants taking part so far are the Deck House and the Treehouse Bistro.

Saturday March 19, 2011 is the 7th Annual Lo Tide Run 5K/10K - - Carolina Beach, NC

This Event Makes An IMPACT In Our Community!
This great event was started by local people who cared about others and wanted to do something that made a difference in someone else’s life. The run was renamed in 2006 in memory of Steve Haydu of Carolina Beach who died from cancer at a young age. All proceeds are distributed to recipients selected by a Volunteer Board of Directors to assist local cancer victims in financial need. The recipients must be residents of New Hanover County, preferably of Pleasure Island, diagnosed with cancer, and without medical insurance or in financial need. All donations are tax deductible. Last year over $40,000 from Registration Fees, Sponsors and Individual Donations was distributed directly to recipients. The impact in their lives of getting much needed financial help from their community is WORTH RUNNING FOR, your participation does matter.
This great event is well worth your effort to sign up and participate in. Even if you don’t run you will surely have a fun time with the run and all of the entertainment planned. Let's help make this year even better.

NC Aquarium Fort Fisher

If you’re planning a trip to Carolina Beach, NC you should plan your visit for Saturday, 03/05/2011 and Sunday, 03/06/2011. Just a short trip down the road from our Carolina Beach bed and breakfast is the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

They have a really interesting and fun event planned for the weekend. It’s their 4th annual Scales & Tails event. While there you will get to learn everything about those cold blooded creatures that sometimes give us the “chills and willies”. Now’s your chance to get up close and personal with some of these mysterious animals you don’t often get. You might like to even touch a few. Along with the regular aquarium staff will be some experts that have been invited just for this event to introduce you to these animals and answer your questions. The creatures of honor will be alligators, snakes, iguanas, lizards, turtles and so many more. All this is included with the regular admission to the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher.
