Behind the scenes at the NC Aquarium by Carolina Beach, NC

This summer you have the opportunity to look deeper into the hidden layers of the NC Aquarium down the road from Carolina Beach. The program will feature the traditional behind the scenes tour, which includes exploring animal quarantine, life support, food preparation, and access areas. The tour will then continue to the top of the Aquarium's largest exhibit, the Cape Fear Shoals, where participants will have the rare opportunity to view a live feeding of the 235,000 gallon tank from a newly created viewing deck. Sharks, stingrays, moray eels, spadefish, and other large fish call the exhibit home and will be swimming below during the tour. You will need to register for this 2 hour tour by calling 910-458-7468.
Scheduled dates are Monday July 5th, Wednesday July 7th, Friday July 9th, Monday July 12th and Friday July 16th.

North Carolinas coastline beach re-nourishment project.

This spring crews came to the North Carolina Coast to replenish the beaches. While some people don’t agree with this practice, it sure makes a huge difference in the size of the beaches. There is much more room to lounge on the sand and enjoy the waves.
Today I took these pictures to show you how beautiful the Carolina Beach area is now.

All the nice new sand has made all of our guests happy, there is so much more room now for everyone to have space to relax on a beach chair and maybe crack open that book you brought and get a little reading done.

The low waves today were just right for frolicking in the beautiful blue water.
So if you're wondering what our beaches look like I hope this will help you to decide to come and stay at The Beacon House Inn Bed and Breakfast in Carolina Beach for your summer vacation.

Oh look there's a spot just waiting for you.

Carolina Beach's own Michael's Seafood Restaurant has done it again!

Michael’s has defended their championship at the "Great Chowder Cook-off" in Newport, Rhode Island. Michael’s Seafood in Carolina Beach, N.C., won in the seafood category while Hammerhead Grill in Narragansett, R.I., took second and Tracy’s Clam Shack brought third place bragging rights all the way back to Juneau, Alaska.

Michael's Seafood hasn't forgotten its roots.
"We're competing for the whole state, you know," said McGowan. "We're taking the whole state of NC with us. We brought it back to NC and we want to bring it back one more time."
Well I’d say they did it! A big CONGRATULATIONS to Michael's Seafood Restaurant.

It's Summertime at the Beach!

Summer is here at Carolina Beach and the Beacon House Inn is ready to welcome you to your vacation at the beach. The shops at the Boardwalk are open and the Fireworks on Thursday nights are ready to soar into the air. The Sunday night movies are all ready to roll and the Bands are warming up. So pick up some ice cream or a large sweet tea and enjoy all that our town has to offer. Of course you can do none of these activities and just swim in the ocean and relax on the beach under an umbrella.
